Quoting from an email from KL Commuter (http://klcommuter.blogspot.com/) on 18 Sept 06 re KL public transport maps:

I trust that you have read my post about bus stops. I think the London bus stops are good examples. I really love their spider maps: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/spiders/?borough=westminster> (you can download them here)

Bus stops in London are clustered together. So for example, Oxford street is damn long. So TfL divides Oxford St into many parts. For example, one of it being Marble Arch. And Marble Arch would then have many, about a dozen I think, bus stops. These bus stops within the Marble Arch area are all within walking distance. So when passengers stop at Marble Arch, they refer to these Spider Maps, all inside each bus shelter to refer to which bus stop they should then move to to do a transfer, or to orientate themselves to the surroundings.

Bus stops usually get alphabets as their names. This is much useful than the typical KL policymaker response, by pasting the whole Klang Valley rail network map (its useful too, but a bus one is more important here), or by pasting the whole Klang Valley Bus network map (which is impossible to read). Maybe having all three would be great! The index below the spider map is also very useful. The timetable information (not shown) at bus stops displaying where the buses that stop here would go and how long it'd take to reach the next bus stops are very useful.

Comprehensive route maps are also printed out and distributed free at Tube stations. They are something like your Peta on your website: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/pdfdocs/centlond.pdf and http://www.tfl.gov.uk/buses/buses_map.asp.

Very importantly, we in KL and the Klang Valley need to fix all these ad hoc methods of doing things. In the past, a bus timetable meant a ugly fax-quality photocopy A4 pasted on bus stops. Look at the way London does it - elegant and pleasent looking posters that are big enough and easy enough to understand.

<snipped>

I am a little disappointed that all we hear about is just DBKL doing all these things, and the Selangor suburbs are left out. Not holitstic. Not strategic.
